Playing our game isn’t the only option to be involved. Ever thought about coaching? Umpiring? Volunteering? There are a number of ways you can be involved in Australian football outside of playing.

Coaching

Coaches are the backbone of the football community, leading over 1.5million participants onto the ground every week. CoachAFL is the official accreditation and coach education platform for Australian Football Coaches, providing online learning and resources to support coaches along their coaching journey. If you have a coaching role at your club, head on over to CoachAFL and join as a Foundation Coach. As a Foundation Coach you will start your coaching journey, complete online courses and access an exclusive resource library filled with training activities, videos and articles from AFL Coaches.

Umpiring

Umpiring is a fantastic way to get in the game. Umpiring provides opportunities for people to learn life skills, keep fit, and make friends. The bonus is that you can be paid to blow the whistle or wave the flags. Umpires can also obtain Nationally recognised accreditations whilst officiating community football. Visit umpire.afl if you are keen to get in the game and become an umpire.

Volunteering

Volunteering is a great way to connect with football and with your local football club. Ever thought about sitting on a club committee? Working the canteen? Running water? Click the below link to search for clubs in your area and see if they require any volunteer support.
